Why Sustainability Matters to Us

At Go Salalah Tour, we believe travel should protect the landscapes, wildlife, and people that make our region special. Rooted in Dhofar, we are committed to safeguarding our heritage through transparent, ethical, and sustainable tourism practices.

How We Protect Salalah & Dhofar

1. Environmental Management Policy

We commit to strictly minimizing the negative environmental impact of our daily operations.

Transport & Carbon: We maintain vehicles to high standards to reduce emissions and optimize route planning to minimize fuel consumption. We prioritize group transfers to lower the carbon footprint per passenger.

Waste Management: We prioritize the “reduce and reuse” hierarchy above all. We internally segregate waste (general, organic, plastics) to monitor our impact, given limited municipal recycling in Dhofar. We are actively working toward the full elimination of single-use plastics in our operations.

Resource & Office Efficiency: We monitor and set targets for reducing water, energy, and paper consumption across our offices and camps. We promote paperless communications and utilize efficient fixtures (solar, low-flow) in all facilities.

2. Social & Human Rights Policy

We commit to treating all employees and community members with dignity, respect, and fairness.

  • Fair Employment: We prioritize the engagement of Omani nationals as guides and service providers, ensuring transparent payment terms and wages above the industry average. We uphold a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination, forced labor, or any form of illegal labor, strictly complying with Omani laws.
  • Local Sourcing: We give absolute priority to local products and services from Dhofar to ensure the economic benefits of tourism stay within the community.
  • Human Rights: We are committed to upholding ethical conduct and universal human rights across our operations, ensuring full compliance with all local and international ethical business standards.

3. Cultural Heritage & Community Engagement

We commit to respecting and preserving the unique culture of Oman and the Dhofar region.

Souvenirs & Artifacts: We prohibit the promotion or sale of any souvenirs derived from endangered or threatened species (CITES/IUCN Red List). We also prohibit the purchase or removal of historical or archaeological artifacts.

Cultural Respect: We brief all guests on local etiquette (dress code, photography consent) before visiting settlements.

Community Consent: We do not visit private villages or homes without prior, informed consent from the community leaders.

4. Wildlife & Animal Welfare Policy

We commit to the protection of Oman’s biodiversity.
Animal Welfare: We do not offer excursions that involve captive animals, animal performances, or riding wild animals. Camel interactions are limited to domesticated livestock under humane conditions.

Wildlife Viewing: We maintain safe distances from wildlife (e.g., birds, marine life) to avoid disturbance. Feeding wildlife is strictly prohibited.

Sensitive Zones: We adhere to all regulations regarding protected areas, including Ras Al Jinz and the Frankincense protected zones.

5. Governance, Procurement, and Transparency

Sustainable Procurement: We implement a purchasing policy that prioritizes local, ethical, and eco-certified suppliers for all goods (e.g., office supplies, food) when available, while being mindful of local market limitations.

Transparency & Client Disclosure: We commit to providing complete and accurate information on tour specifications and pricing. We also commit to informing clients about the estimated Greenhouse Gas (GHG) / carbon emissions of major travel options before booking, empowering them to make informed choices.

Data Privacy & Marketing: We maintain strict confidentiality of customer personal data, adhering to all applicable privacy laws. We ensure all marketing communication is truthful, accurate, and avoids deceptive claims (Greenwashing).

Continuous Monitoring: A dedicated Sustainability Coordinator is responsible for setting measurable goals, tracking resource use, reviewing policies annually, and reporting our progress to stakeholders.h cases.

2. Reduce Your Footprint Consider bringing a refillable water bottle. Take short showers in hotels and carry your trash out of nature spots (“Pack it in, pack it out”).

3. Buy Authentic Support the local economy by purchasing authentic Omani handicrafts directly from artisans, rather than imported mass-produced souvenirs.
