Visitors are encouraged to obtain an International Driving Permit (IDP) before arriving in Oman. Travelers from GCC countries (Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar), most European countries, the United States, Quebec (Canada), and South Africa can drive in Oman without an IDP, provided their passport and driver's license are from the same country. Any license not in Arabic or English must be translated into one of those languages, with the translation attested by the relevant embassy. The minimum age for renting our 4x4 with rooftop tent is 18, with a valid driver's license.
