Total:
  • Khareef Season (June to September): The cascading waterfalls appear along the cliffside during periods of strong Khareef rains, turning the entire valley lush and green.

  • Rest of the Year (October to May): While the cascading waterfalls only flow during heavy seasonal rainfall, the main riverbed, serene turquoise lakes, and travertine pools retain water all year round. This makes Wadi Darbat a fantastic destination year-round for boat rides, nature walks, and viewing free-roaming camels.

Dhofar is one of the very few locations in the Arabian Peninsula where wild African Baobab trees (Adansonia digitata) grow native. Seeing these centuries-old, massive trunked trees in the mountain valleys provides a unique botanical highlight.

This tour explores the natural highlights and cultural history of Dhofar's eastern coast and mountains, including:

  • Wadi Darbat: A lush valley famous for cascading waterfalls, turquoise lakes, roaming camels, and kayaking/boating.

  • Jebel Samhan Viewpoint: A dramatic mountain peak offering panoramic plateau views above the clouds.

  • Ancient Baobab Trees: Discover the rare, gigantic African Baobab trees tucked inside the Dhofar mountain valleys.

  • Gravity Point: Experience the optical illusion where your 4x4 vehicle appears to roll uphill in neutral.

  • Historic Taqa: Take in views from Taqa Cliff and explore traditional Omani architecture and coastal heritage.

The tour duration is approximately 6 hours. Because this is a 100% private tour, departure times are fully customizable. Most guests choose a morning start (e.g., 8:30 AM – 9:00 AM) or an early afternoon start.

Door-to-door pick-up and drop-off are included from any hotel, resort, private accommodation in Salalah, Salalah International Airport (SLL), or the Salalah Cruise Port.

  • Clothing: Comfortable, lightweight clothing suitable for walking and light outdoor exploring.

  • Footwear: Sturdy walking shoes or comfortable sandals for walking along trails and viewpoints.

  • Layers: Jebel Samhan stands over 4,000 feet above sea level, so a light jacket or sweater is recommended as it can feel breezy at the top.

  • Essentials: Sunscreen, sun hat, sunglasses, and a camera. Chilled bottled water is provided in the vehicle throughout the trip.

Yes! Because this is a private expedition in an air-conditioned 4x4, the itinerary pacing, walk lengths, and rest breaks are customized to match your group’s physical comfort levels.
